Michael Petrides, DDS

As a dental professional, I've come to appreciate the unique nature of dentistry. It's not just about the variety of treatments we offer, but more so about the people we serve. Each patient brings their own personality and story to the chair, and it's in these narratives that I find my daily inspiration. Making a positive difference in someone's life, whether through maintaining their oral health or rebuilding a smile, is an honor and a privilege that I do not take lightly. I believe that every interaction is an opportunity to make someone's dental experience better than they expected, and that's what I strive for each day.

My path to dentistry was paved with personal experience. I remember the feelings of timidity and anxiety during dental visits as a child. It was the comforting and enjoyable experiences provided by my dentist, Dr. Mahfood, and orthodontist, Dr. Peterson, that not only eased my apprehension but also ignited my passion for oral healthcare. They showed me how a dental visit could be transformed into a positive experience, and I am deeply grateful for their influence on my career choice. Today, I am passionate about offering that same comfort to my patients. There's an unparalleled joy I feel when a patient who arrives nervous leaves with a smile. It's these moments—turning apprehension into relief and happiness—that energize me and reaffirm my commitment to dentistry.

Excellence in Education

My educational journey began at Duquesne University, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Biology, fostering a foundational understanding of the biological sciences that underpin dental medicine. I then pursued my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at West Virginia University School of Dentistry, an experience that not only honed my clinical skills but also instilled in me a profound commitment to patient care. Following dental school, I furthered my training at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, completing a rigorous General Practice Residency (GPR) program over two years. During my second year, I was honored to serve as chief resident, a role that allowed me to deepen my expertise in dental procedures and patient management.

I am actively involved in various forms of continuing education, including participation in the Spear study club, volunteering at the Wheeling Health Right Dental Clinic, and being part of the Wheeling District Dental Society. Additionally, I serve as an adjunct faculty member for the WVU School of Dentistry, where I have the opportunity to share my knowledge and experience with the next generation of dental professionals. My dedication to continuing education is driven by a desire to keep my practice at the forefront of dental innovations, ensuring that I can offer my patients the most advanced and effective treatments available. This ongoing learning process is not just about enhancing my skills; it's about comprehensively addressing the medical and dental well-being of my patients. I believe that by staying current with the latest advancements in dentistry, I can provide care that not only addresses immediate dental needs but also contributes to the overall health and quality of life of those I serve.

Outside the Office

While my day-to-day life is dedicated to dental care and the well-being of my patients, outside the office, I'm just as passionate about my rich Greek heritage and the joys of family life. As a proud member of a "big Greek family," my life is filled with the laughter, support, and occasional lively debate that only such a close-knit group can provide.

When I'm not at the office, you're likely to find me embracing the outdoors, especially if the weather is conducive to a good game of golf. I especially love beating Dr. Pete by a few strokes. In the times I'm not holding a golf club, I'm probably surrounded by family and friends.

A Focus on Community

Outside of my professional life, I find joy and purpose in my involvement with Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Steubenville. Our community's Greek Food Festival has become a cherished tradition in Steubenville, eagerly anticipated by many throughout the year. It’s those vibrant days in the summer when we all come together to celebrate our heritage, cuisine, and fellowship that I particularly look forward to. Volunteering at this event allows me to connect with our community on a deeper level, enriching my sense of service beyond the dental office.

In addition to my commitment to my faith community, I serve as a practicing dentist at Wheeling Health Right and as an adjunct faculty member at the WVU School of Dentistry. My work with Wheeling Health Right is especially close to my heart, as it enables me to provide essential dental care to those who might otherwise go without due to financial constraints. It's a privilege to extend my professional expertise to serve the broader community, ensuring that comprehensive dental care is accessible to all, regardless of their circumstances. This role not only allows me to give back to the community but also to embody the values of service and compassion that are integral to both my personal ethos and professional practice.
